I just rewatched this today and somehow didn't catch it.

(Also, with Nykvist on board (shot both films) + Erland Josephson on screen, it was hard not comparing it to Bergman throughout)

Fällan / The Trap (1975) is a really good film, though not quite great. Has anyone seen Fritänkaren (1994), it has a similar profile to Edward Munch. His short The Diary of an Unknown Soldier (1959) has also a decent amount of buzz, and was chosen by TimeOut Magazine as one of the 1,000 greatest fil...

I'll mess up the results a little. Seen 8: Battleship Potemkin Aleksandr Nevskiy Ivan the Terrible, Part I Que Viva Mexico (While Ivan the Terrible, Part I is a favourite I was severely disappointed by part 2. This is mainly as I found the impromptu singing and the colour scene entirely out of place)

Re: 1986 Poll 2.0

1986 was an excellent year for cinema, and as it appears from my list, a very strong year for French-language cinema: À l'ombre de la canaille bleue / In the Shadow of the Blue Rascal (1986, Pierre Clémenti) Le rayon vert / The Green Ray (1986, Eric Rohmer) Blue Velvet (1986, David Lynch) Thérèse (1...

Reading the 82-page platform, which is missing a lot of clear details and indicating the direction they want to go in and initiatives they want to do, rather than the extent, the exact tax brackets, fees, investment, etc. but this is for the final budget negotiations as well as later - there is actu...

The negotiations between the Labour Party and the Centre Party are complete and they have revealed the baseline of their shared platform. There will be adjustments here, as they need The Socialist Left to get their budget approved, and with this there will be concessions. These are broad strokes hig...

I have to admit, 1993 is one of the years that makes me miss the old system with the undisputed number 1 - which is almost ever the case - but everything else falls far, far behind Hélas pour moi. Oh well - I'll go with the 4/4/4/4/4 system for maximum payout - and highlight the excellent and overlo...

Re: Everything is Political

Decent news from Norway. The Centre party conceded and each MP voted to start deliberations with the Socialist Left - meaning we are quite likely getting the most left-leaning government we could expect based on the results. The alternative is a Labour/Centre Party minority government collaborating ...
