It seems insecure men with women issues gravitate towards Trump because he somehow makes them feel emboldened and empowered. Seeing a "macho" sexual predator in charge, makes them feel seen, like they matter, like their values and identity is represented. Then, you have the racism, which has only gotten worse and worse. He checks close to every item on the fascist checklist at the moment, and the rhetoric is only becoming more explicit.
The number of dangerous views, causes and ideologies riding on Trump's coattails, using him as a meme to normalise their behaviour and stances is terrifying. Even if he loses, they will still be there, and the most powerful (not just in America, but the world), such as Musk, will do all they can to maintain the momentum, but if Trump loses, their loudest mascot and meme will be neutered, and fade, rather than getting 4 more years in the spotlight. Trump winning and with that getting to more and more men (and a lot of white women as well) to buy into the extended worldview and fuelling hate and fear of those less fortunate or in lesser number to distract us all from the real power imbalances is a truly sickening and saddening thought.
I fear the next few presidential elections will be just as awful, because there'll be other orange-flavoured candidates each time. I'm thinking Tucker Carlson will be the candidate in 2028 if that disgusting treasonous f-cker loses this year.
You are likely right, though I do think that a notable degree of the appeal of MAGA is the cult of personality that Trump has, and while an heir apparent can and likely will tap into that, I think it will be near-impossible to recapture the momentum. Perhaps Tucker Carlson can do it, who knows. You are likely right in that every US election for the foreseeable future will be billed as "the most important election", though with consecutive Trump losses, and without someone magically recapturing the spirit, another MAGA loss in 2028, the movement could go the way of the Tea Party. It may even fizzle out before the next Republican primary, with a non-MAGA Republican winning, though that is likely wishful thinking.
