i'm glad someone else saw this! good drama w song kang-ho based on events of the gwangju uprising 1980
a guy with little interest in politics inadvertantly plays an important part by ferrying a foreign journalist to the scene
the driver's true identity wasn't known until publicity from this film prompted his son to get in touch so his story is invented
this made me cry. i didn't know anything about these events and on reading up OF COURSE the US backed the right wing coup that killed thousands of people in gwangju in 1980. very fine performance by song kang-ho who mostly avoids the sentimental traps set by the director
figures. i survived that so gonna try junk head (it's also on youtube!)
confused bc wiki and a few other sources say it's 2021 - but imdb has 2017 so it's fine!
i think ive had nightmares abt this place
can't summon the mood for sleep has her house i gave up after 10 mins but i'll try again...someday! you were never here looks like complete dreck and i am atp so sick of joaquin phoenix... on the beach at night alone it is! then i'm probably done. this many recent films in succession is kind of jarring

omg, me too, I've tried about 6 times and I just can't stay awake...was gonna try again for the poll but he posted something idiotic about AI on twitter, so now I'm questioning his artistic understanding....
I also haven't been able to get through it yet. But the images, taken on their own as individual shots, are quite impressive to me. Especially as someone who also has shot a lot of footage on the iPhone 6. I've never been able to find a workflow that yielded anything close to those results which I find quite lovely... and keeps me interested in finishing the film some day.
watched some 2017 stuff and most of them good but doesn't change top 20
