2009 poll watchlist:

J. (Alexandre Larose, Solomon Nagler, 2009)
Found memories decayed by the shock patterns of childhood trauma. This films is made mostly with footage found in the bin of an ophanage. The white progressivelly disolve within a darknest more and more dense. Faces progressivelly disolves within one another.

Hi all, this is my first time post on this forum. I looked into the last poll you did for 2009, to boost my watchlist this year, which is special to me, and a friend mentioned you were going again. I know you sometimes screen out new user ballots, to credentialize myself I have seen 269 movies from this year, as well as 37/38 of the films that made it to the results stage here last time. I plan to contribute to future polls, where I feel I've seen enough movies to not be an error term. If you do accept my ballot, and in case Red Riding is not accepted as a complete work (note it won best miniseries at BAFTA) please substitute in Red Riding: In The Year of our Lord 1974 (the first of the triptych). Two tiers of 10 films for the points system, although they do also happen to be ordered from 1-20.

Panique au village / A Town Called Panic (2009 - Stéphane Aubier & Vincent Patar)
The Secret of Kells (2009 - Tomm Moore & Nora Twomey)
ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版: 破 / Evangerion shin gekijôban: Ha / Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (2009 - Masayuki, Kazuya Tsurumaki, Hideaki Anno)
Полторы комнаты, или Сентиментальное путешествие на родину / Poltory komnaty ili Sentimentalnoe puteshestvie na Rodinu / Room and a Half (2009 - Andrey Khrzhanovskiy)
De helaasheid der dingen / The Misfortunates / The Shittiness of Things (2009 - Felix van Groeningen)
Amer (2009 - Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani)
Into The Unknown (2009 - Deimantas Narkevičius)
ابن بابل‎ / Syn Babilonu / Son of Babylon (2009 - Mohamed Al Daradji)
Mavro livadi / Black Field (2009 - Vardis Marinakis)
Le streghe, femmes entre elles (2009 - Jean-Marie Straub)

Red Riding (2009 - Julian Jarrold, James Marsh & Anand Tucker)
Io sono l'amore / I Am Love (2009 - Luca Guadagnino)
เจ้านกกระจอก / Jao nok krajok / Mundane History (2009 - Anocha Suwichakornpong)
Lourdes (2009 - Jessica Hausner)
Man tänker sitt / Burrowing (2009 - Henrik Hellström & Fredrik Wenzel)
春風沉醉的夜晚 / Chun feng chen zui de ye wan / Spring Fever (2009 - Ye Lou)
박쥐 / Bakjwi / Thirst (2009 - Chan-wook Park)
Bunny and the Bull (2009 - Paul King)
Trees of Syntax, Leaves of Axis (2009 - Daïchi Saïto)
#37 (2009 - Joost Rekveld)

I think I'll remove the disclaimer at the top for future years and just have it as an unwritten rule instead, because I don't want it to discourage ballots from new members.

It's quite unlikely that I'll ever discount a ballot. If you've found our forum and think it's neat and want to participate, you're almost certainly a cinephile with eclectic taste and will fit right in.

The reserved right-to-discount-a-ballot, as I understand it, is just to make sure that there's an out if the results would otherwise get majorly skewed away from reflecting the forum's spirit by counting ballots that feel more spammy than sincere. But that's hardly likely.

i saw that at the cinema! was quite a ride. thinking about it & some of the others that have cropped up throughout march, i think 2009 was the last year i went to the cinema in any mass fashion to watch films. doesn't feel that long ago....

you could always post a new ballot silga, i'm sure evelyn could figure it out :) that's what i'm gonna do and i can edit my first one if i wanted to (but i won't go back there, because in this one month space i have progressed to !HERE!)

i was going to do an entirely documentary ballot, but there's some films i'm sad no one else has loved & they must go in. so here is my dubious final nod (trying to dislodge all the unvoted ones otherwise stuck in my throat, it's a nice year) unranked:

craneway event - tacita dean
the sounds of insects: record of a mummy - peter liechti
the invisible collection / a colecção invisível - rita azevedo gomes
the mouth of the wolf / la bocca del lupo - pietro marcello
terrorism considered as one of the fine arts - peter whitehead
goodbye, how are you? / довиђења, како сте? - boris mitić
the old school of capitalism / stara škola kapitalizma - želimir žilnik
bluebeard / barbe bleue - catherine breillat
journey to the moon / aya seyahat - kutluğ ataman
land of madness / la terre de la folie - luc moullet
like you know it all / 잘 알지도 못하면서 - hong sang-soo
lowlands - peter thompson
the time that remains / الزمن الباقي - elia suleiman
i love my boring life / mám ráda nudný život - jan gogola jr
podwórka - sharon lockhart

Yes, feel free to post new ballots, I can always figure it out. That's true in general, not just when editing isn't an option.

Thanks, but there's no need for me to post a new ballot since I have nothing to change. March being a month of my local film festival, it kept me from watching pretty much anything else.

Apologies for delay in tallying. This may happen every March and April, because it's my busy season when work eats into the evenings I normally devote to hobbies.
