watched a lot of 2021 oscar nominees, didn't like much but was surprised to think so well of belfast, it was funny, every 2021 film i liked had terrible reviews from my letterboxd friends, and many i didn't like had raves, i seem more aligned with my letterboxd contacts on older stuff than on new movies

Yes it was great! Sometimes makes me feel like i should balance it out with some less good stuff, for some reason.
I’ve been working through Budd Boetticher’s stuff recently moving towards A Time For Dying, did you enjoy it? Trying to do some Audie Murphy homework too before then.

i thought it was very good. audie was broke and formed a production company with bud but sadly this was their only release. then audie died in a plane crash

watched several 2022 films to see what people are doing with cameras these days and the answer is not much. the michael bay is at least interesting as pure audiovisual kinetic energy, might be the only film of his i've even half-liked.
