SCFZ poll: Blake Edwards

Post by flip »

Polling the films of Blake Edwards

The rules:

- your list can include no more than half* of the Edwards films you've seen, up to a maximum of 8. So if you've seen 6 films, you can vote for 3, and if you've seen 20, you can vote for up to 8.

* If you've seen an odd number, you can round up when deciding the length of your ballot -- e.g if you've seen 7, you can vote for 4, and if you've seen 15, you can vote for the maximum of 8.

- i'll assume ballots are ranked unless you tell me otherwise. unranked ballots are fine.

- deadline for ballots: next Tuesday, in seven days, whatever day that is

Man, this is not my week for polls. I know Edwards has his fans within the critical community, but I'm definitely not part of that crowd. I think the only reason I've watched as many of his movies as I have is somewhere between trying to figure out if I'm wrong and hate watching to re-verify I'm not.

What Did You Do in the War Daddy?
Experiment in Terror
A Shot in the Dark

The Tamarind Seed
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Darling Lili
Sunset
Days of Wine and Roses

Seen 5. I don't really remember any of them beyond a vague like/dislike, but I'll, uh, take a shot in the dark.

A Shot in the Dark
Victor/Victoria

Like greg x, also not much of a fan, though I've heard good things of Exp. in Terr.

Edwards! I usually like the guy, but somehow seem to be in the minority as to which films of his I think are outstanding?
Don't know, why everyone loves Sellers so much, for example (A Shot in the Dark is cringeworthily unfunny), and the great great great thing about "The Pink Panther" is that it's a David Niven movie.

Well...

01. The Pink Panther (1963)
02. Victor/Victoria (1982)
03. Wild Rovers (1971)
04. Sunset (1988)

Edwards seen: 12

PS: Can't vot for more, cause the others I've seen are those terrible Pink Panther movies (it seems like he made 6 of them...) or truly bad stuff like Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) or Switch (1991).

exactly.
Not as atrocious as that song though, I'll give Edwards that.
