2015 poll

Post by Lencho of the Apes »

Choose your favorite films from 2015 (according to IMDb).

– Each person votes for up to 20 movies. Do not feel compelled to fill the maximum allowable number, if you're enthusiastic about fewer than twenty.
– Do not rank the films except the number 1, it gets two points..

Users are urged to post their provisional lists as soon as possible so that others may use them for recommendations. You may, of course, revise your lists at any point prior to the deadline.

Ballots posted by new members who have not participated in other parts of the forum will not be counted.

Deadline for 2015 lists will be Thursday, April 1st at approximately 5 PM Pacific Time.

45 YEARS (Haigh)
CAROL (Haynes)
THE WITCH (Eggers)

I'll look around and see if there's more -- but there's a lot of highly acclaimed stuff from this year that I detest with a bright flaming hatred.
These matters are best disposed of from a great height. Over water.

For me it's Demolition (Jean-Marc Vallée). A strong contender for the worst film of the decade.

i'm not planning on watching it again but i remember once seeing a really long japanese film where at one point they go to this, sort of wellbeing class and they all end up on their knees listening to each others intestines gurgle.

is that happy hour? that scene pops into my head fairly often for some reason but i have no idea what films its from

also for everyone listing manoel de oliveira's Visita ou Memórias e Confissões (memories and confessions) imdb has that as.....1993?

Shot in 1982, this movie was released only in 2015, after the director's death. Director Manoel de Oliveira left instructions that this film be released only after his death. However, it was screened at the Portuguese Cinemathèque in 1993, during a retrospective of the director's work.

also for everyone listing manoel de oliveira's Visita ou Memórias e Confissões (memories and confessions) imdb has that as.....1993?
Shot in 1982, this movie was released only in 2015, after the director's death. Director Manoel de Oliveira left instructions that this film be released only after his death. However, it was screened at the Portuguese Cinemathèque in 1993, during a retrospective of the director's work.
right so are we counting it as 2015 or not? need to know because of course will watch if we are

also does anyone have sanchu uprising handy?
i'll have it shortly hopefully! 8-)

Carol is prob my biggest disappointment of the year, to me it just felt like a cold and laboured Sirk pastiche.

I was really into Son of Saul as I was watching it but it left me with the sourest aftertaste. Maybe cuz it felt like The Holocaust: The VR game?

The Lobster is genuinely one of my worst film experiences ever.

Right, that's enough whinging for a month.
