the caption describes it as a "a viral clip of old-timey French people", and anyone willing to print the phrase "old-timey French people" has to be willing to print just about anything. :)

they seem to have replaced the 5-second clip with a still, but i'm guessing the 'viral clip' was in colour

ok, now I've actually read the whole dumb article. Does the New York Times regularly hire morons from high school to write their articles?

i couldn't vote as i love them all ♥

the snowball fight went viral, something about the pure joy of spontaneous events. although this was most likely one of the brothers' staged clips?

like the bicyclist, what was he thinking, he could have easily avoided this lol

Well damn, I sure picked a good day to watch Histoire(s) du cinéma for the first time! What a coincidence, I wasn't thinking of this anniversary at all, nor had I been aware of it! (I watched the movie this afternoon in the GMT+8 time zone.)

yeah, definitely one of their 'fictitious' ones, like "boat leaving the port", "workers leaving the factory" or "the sprinkler sprinkled".
The Lumiere's and their cameramen didn't do as much "documentary" films as was usually assumed and also made many great fiction films (like that snowball fight).
