"15th august, 1947. well it means a lot. first of all, it's my birthday of course."
the greatest talking heads in all of indian cinema. (and some years back, samanth subramanian tried to locate some of them.)
ps: most of the interviews are in english, but a few aren't, and the copy on youtube has no subtitles. it shouldn't detract that much from the viewing experience, but i could be wrong, so i'll see if i can find subs anywhere.
pps: i know we all have bigger things on our mind (and hope you all are and stay healthy and safe), but i was hoping the diminishing returns in terms of cup participation wouldn't kick in before round 4. oh well...

xSastry.
Dropped the ball on participating in round 2. Sorry about that, managers. Making a point to bounce back.

This is the first Williams so far that I find simply inscrutable, instead of productively challenging. But if there's any compelling writing on the film out there, it could change my mind!

Not much writing on his work, mostly on his feature film of course. This could maybe be nice: https://frieze.com/article/film-eduardo-williams
That I'm Falling was his student film at Fresnoy (one of my favorite film schools); it might not be his best, but it's nice to watch it in this little overview of his work. Hope you all enjoy nonetheless.

i forgot to download the williams, and i don't want to ask mauries to upload it for a third time, especially seeing as my vote won't matter, so i'll abstain. i did watch the sastry, and it was good, but probably my least favourite sastry film so far (i've really liked the previous two).

didn't really "connect" with the Williams, but certainly didn't dislike it either. somewhat charming
the obvs comparison for the Sastry is Kieslowski's Talking Heads, one of my fav shorts ever... the Sastry isn't quite on that level for me, but as someone whose father is an Indian born in 1948, this flick was dear to me
