Re: SCFZ poll: Rene Clair

Seen 16, most of them in the early '90s, so they're a bit hard for me to rank properly, but here's my best effort:

1. Under the Roofs of Paris
2. Paris qui dort
3. Beauties of the Night
4. Beauty of the Devil
5. Quatorze Juillet

2 Browning, 16 Clair, 4 Côté

I have no idea how to rank the Lumières I've seen, so I'll abstain.

Yup. First thing I did with my pro account was toggle off watchlist additions. My own watchlist is only about 80 films, many of them recommended by SCFZ, that I'm extremely eager to find.

Thanks for such a thorough answer. I feel like I share your viewpoint 100%, and I consider Lithuania a valuable friend to my country. Valdas Adamkus lived in the Chicago area the same time I did; I'm trying to remember which suburb, somewhere around Hinsdale or Brookfield. I'm happy to say I voted f...

@holymann... very much agreed about the urgency of climate change.

Silga, what is the general mood about the U.S. election in Lithuania?

Seen 18 but there's only one I'd vote for. Burton is an inspired art director, but if he wants to make good movies he ought to collaborate with better writers who can develop plots and create intelligent dialogue.

1. Edward Scissorhands

Cassavetes is a huge blind spot in my viewing history, maybe even the biggest in terms of canonical reputation. I've seen only two of his, Opening Night and WUI.
