Re: Cannes 2021 Betting Thread
and based on the reviews/ratings, these are the awards i imagine each source would give, arbitrarily giving the jury prize to the 3rd ranked film, and best director to the 4th ranked. the guardian somewhat absurdly gave 4-star reviews to ten films (and 5-stars to another), so i used their award pred...

Re: Cannes 2021 Betting Thread
there doesn't appear to be much consensus about the best and worst films of the festival, but the two films that screened on the very last day end up being the top and bottom films on the screen daily jury grid. here are the best and worst from each source: The Guardian best film: All We Imagine As ...

and perhaps interesting: our best-of-the-decade choices are almost completely different this time than last. only two of the films are the same (vertigo, and one other from our top ten that i'll reveal later).

all of our top ten films came from the 1920s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. i'm listing the top films from each decade below, but i'll withhold the top ten films for now. some of the films below ranked very well (one is in a tie for 11th), while others won't even make a top 250 list. i imagine it may com...

Re: SCFZ 10th Anniversary Poll: Ballots
Jean-Luc Godard was next (as st gloede guessed) with 11 different films, followed by Luis Bunuel, with 10. nearly 60 directors received votes for 5 or more different films -- a lot of names you might guess, and a lot of potential surprises. perhaps somewhat shocking, only five john ford films got a ...

just six films left to go in the competition, and the guardian has yet to give a 1-star or 5-star review (which is unusual, based on past years). so perhaps there are no clear winners or duds this year, though the films that screened yesterday all rank either at the top or at the very bottom of the ...

we're exactly halfway through the competition, and there's a new leader on the jury grid -- the substance , a body horror comedy starring demi moore that apparently got a ten minute standing ovation. its rating might drop as the last reviews come in, but it's slightly ahead of the jia zhangke on the...
