Re: Pearl in the Crown (1972) vs. Blush (1995)

Ok I'll vote for blush X1995 Its the one that made me cry :( I don't remember how Blush ends, but didn't anyone here wipe away a tear or two when the battle's finally over, the half-dead men emerge totally black from the pit, and then, in those dialogue-free final moments, our hero is washed clean ...

Dang it. I thought I had another day, and planned on watching the ones I needed to see today. Oh well. I'll watch them in due time, even though I can no longer vote.

You know what'd be hilarious? If Limelight topped both of their lists. I know it won't happen, but.. I don't use Letterboxd, so, I can't participate, but it'd probably be on the top for me for both of them, Keaton for sure.

Here are my nominees this year (I already posted this on the other forum a while ago) If anyone watches any of them besides the ones I struck through, I'll watch one of your nominees. Just let me know. :) (You don't have to support it. I find more pleasure in recommending them than actually getting ...

Re: Son of Gascogne (1995) vs. The Slender Thread (1965)

The Slender Thread, director Sidney Pollack's debut film and stars Sidney Poitier and Anne Bancroft. Bancroft plays a housewife who took a handful of pills in a suicide attempt. Experiencing possible regret, she calls a suicide hotline, manned by Poitier. The film then delves into her story via flas...

2. Last Year at Marienbad

It appears I've not seen anything from Kautner. I don't use Letterboxd or IMDb, and there's no list on I Check Movies, so, there's really no easy way for me to find out.

Re: The Makioka Sisters (1983) vs. Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962)

Requiem was one of those self-consciously 'realistic' early 60s joints, like The Pawnbroker or A Hatful Of Rain ('57), that get a little on my nerves for their earnest heavyhandedness. I get this feeling you are going to HATE my first choice for 1965. We shall see shortly, I suppose. I guess ...

It sure would be nice if peeps expanded on what they found interesting/liked/disliked/reacted to in these movies. Or we can stick with the concise x#### format, whatever. Honestly, I have a hard time really articulating what I like or dislike about most films. Even to the point of assigning an arbi...

Wow, yall are picking some obscure films. My films for 2011 average 6100 views on letterboxd. All of you guys picked groups of films averaging several hundred views max I dunno what year I'm doing. I guess I need to reconcile myself to the fact that I won't be able to pick five films that I average...
