I've only seen 5 of his films, but three of those are personal favorites:

Et Dieu… créa la femme (Roger Vadim, 1956)
Estate Violenta (Valerio Zurlini, 1959)
Le Combat das l'ile (Alain Cavalier, 1962)

He was especially outstanding and carried the whole film in the one by Zurlini. Need to watch more obviously.

He was fine in "Dangerous Liaisons" (Vadim, 1959) - and he was also good in "The Great Silence" (Corbucci, 1968), though I didn't like the film.

I need to watch more of his work, obviously. His performance in VIOLENT SUMMER still lingers on. It was truly outstanding.

favorite by far is the man who lies, even more than trans-europ-express which might be the better movie.
