How it's played: Someone posts a movie still. First one gets it right posts the next still.

The Rules:

• No hints, EVER!!
• If you post a still and nobody guesses the movie within a day, you can post another still from the same movie.

sorry been travelling! also, it's hard to guess what other people will/won't know - to me that pic seems glaringly obvious. i'll post one more before i hit the 'guess the director even if you've never seen that particular film' shots.

It looks vaguely like a Roy Andersson, but I doubt that's right.

For a moment I thought about Manoel de Oliveira, but I'm not sure..

My first thought was Frankenstein Created Woman, but no. Could it however be Island Of The Burning Damned?

You know, I really disliked that one and remember hate-watching it. Maybe that’s why the stills did not ring a bell. Must have repressed the images. Is it blasphemous to say that I often find Ruiz tedious? Sometimes he’s wonderful and magical and everything clicks, other times he’s just too damn pleased with his own sophistication and erudition. Anyway... i’ll Work on a still.

you don't have to like the film you post stills from, do you? i only chose to post that one, not even because ruiz is pretty recognisable, but purely because i'd bought a jean giono book that day and he's in the first still i posted. if i'd had croesus i'd have posted a still from that....
