SCFZ poll: Alan Pakula
SCFZ poll: Alan Pakula
Polling the films of Alan Pakula
The rules:
- your list can include no more than half* of the Pakula films you've seen, up to a maximum of 8. So if you've seen 6 films, you can vote for 3, and if you've seen 20, you can vote for up to 8.
* If you've seen an odd number, you can round up when deciding the length of your ballot -- e.g if you've seen 7, you can vote for 4, and if you've seen 15, you can vote for the maximum of 8.
- i'll assume ballots are ranked unless you tell me otherwise. unranked ballots are fine.
- deadline for ballots: next Friday, in seven days, whatever day that is

All The President's Men
I know people like Klute, and I'll re-watch at some point, but it made almost no impression on me at all. I'm also not counting The Devil's Own as seen, because I had to pause the VHS tape back in the day, and didn't finish it. But there's no way it was going to beat All The President's Men even if I had.

all the president's men
recently watched 'winter kills' which seemed to me like a spot-on parody of parallax. i wanna see the movie about trumpistas coming out in about 5 years...if we survive

Re: SCFZ poll: Alan Pakula
as with many of the american directors we've polled who made their names in the 70s, pakula's earlier films fared a lot better than his later ones. of his first 9 features, all 9 got support. of his remaining 7 features, from the mid-1980s onwards (starting with 1986's dream lover), only 2 got any support. the five films with no votes: dream lover, orphans, see you in the morning, consenting adults and the devil's own.
