I have to re-watch Contempt. I was very ambivalent about it when I first saw it, and haven't revisited since. Similar thoughts with Le Petit Soldat. The Birds remains my least favorite Hitchcock, and I'm fairly confident a re-watch won't change that. Judex also left me cold despite how much I like Eyes without a face. I'll re-watch it once I've seen the Feuillade.

Interesting to me how powerful both the Varda and Rohmer shorts were this year. I wouldn't put either among their very best work, but both of them pack a punch for me that is not too far off.
*Edit - Saw Losey's The Servant... definitely makes my list.

Contempt (Godard) (the only Godard film I really like)

speaking of "the only Godard film i really like", for me "the only one" is Weekend.

but i like very much the villa in which Contempt is taking place, Casa Malaparte.

I think Blackout and TFW are both top notch in their own high-key/low-key ways. The biggest change in the Trier version is that he's a drug addict instead (which is more in line with the novel).
