seems like, Bohemia contributed with just a single film to 1915 (proly survived, but is virtually untraceable)...
https://www.filmovyprehled.cz/en/film/395151/ahasuerus
A female artist is troubled that she cannot finish her painting of the wandering Jew Ahasuerus. So she sends her obedient husband to find a model. After a careful search the husband eventually finds someone suitable to pose for his wife, an old harpist with a large beard. He invites him to their flat at a certain time. However, his wife is unpleasantly surprised. Instead of the bearded old man, a freshly shaven old man with a close cropped head of hair appears at their door. He believed that the artist would prefer him that way.

The simplest (partial) explanation would be that it's a way to insert romance subplots into a genre that normally doesn't have room for them.

You can use a browser-loaded free VPN through a Chrome/Firefox extension/add-on such as Hoxx VPN to access BFI Player or other country-specific content. I've used it a fair number of times to access Spanish television shows or national museum film content during covid that would otherwise be blocked for US IPs, works like a charm for streaming (would recommend a true VPN however for actual t*rr*nts etc).

One of Irma Vep's disguises in Les Vampires is named Juliette Berteaux. Juliet Berto (nee Annie Jamet) presumably got her surname from her marriage to Michel Berto, but I wonder if her first name is an homage to Irma. Certainly Feuillade was a touchstone for Celine and Julie and many other films from that scene, but Google isn't helping me confirm one way or the other...

A bit more than I expected:

Alias Jimmy Valentine - Tourneur
Carmen -de Mille
Children Of Eve - John Collins

but... what, please, is going on in Fanchon The Cricket? Nothing about it makes any sense to me, neither in terms of character motivation nor of narrative logic. Was this Pickford's cocaine movie? I had to turn it off about the time the boy goes "Oh, I guess I'll fall off a cliff now..." cuz it was killing me. I'll try to finish it tomorrow.

In 1915, ladies not only proved themselves (on-screen and beyond) as capable spies but also as competent traffic dispatchers (able to handle imminent traffic accidents without fits of hysteria). "The Wild Engine" or "The Wrong Train Order" were successfully paving the way to female emancipation! However, the art of story-telling suffered as a consequence. "Exposition" is made well in both films. It is smoothly developed into the "inciting incident" (the train switches to the mode of autonomous driving which is not desirable in 1915) and we witness an extensive "conflict-n-complications". however, due to heroine's ingenuity and vigor, the "crisis" (train crash) doesn't happen. thus we are deprived of "resolution-n-catharsis", i.e. of the fully developed dramatic arc.

what makes these two films still worth watching (if it is not the (deficient) plot) are few spectacular scenes, f.e heroine's stunt in "The Wild Engine" when she jumps with a motorcycle into the water! In 1970 Bas Jan Ader paid tribute to this scene in his "Fall 2"...

It was covered with more than 100,000 1-7/8 inch (47 mm) diameter Novagems, cut glass faceted "jewels", that sparkled in the sunlight, and were illuminated at night by more than fifty spotlights. Originally named just The Tower, the "appellation 'of Jewels' became an addition to the original title, after the tower was thus gorgeously arrayed.
...
It was demolished following the Exposition. The Novagems that adorned the tower were removed prior to demolition, and a small brass medallion attached to each "jewel" indicating that it hung on the tower during the exposition. These jewels were individually boxed and sold for $1.00 each.

obviously, in 1915 girls were still new in the spy business and were climbing the trees mostly for no particular purpose. as opposed to the boys who were already busy spying on foreign armies in the treetops (and getting shot).

When the popularity of castrato musicians faded, many Italian boys chose to die violent deaths rather than wait for their voices to change.

Helen is mostly obsessing about trains on the wrong trail (or men on the wrong path — the path of misconduct, or crime).
And while chasing them she is capable of spectacular stunts.
When others are in PERIL, she is capable of HAZARDS.

The HAZARDS of Helen:
(episode 15) The Engineer's PERIL
Helen, the operator at Hobart, warns her friend Anna, the operator at Montville, that Tim Hudson, a notorious swindler, is headed for Montville. Anna later brings about Hudson's arrest when the man, posing as a minister, attempts to swindle the people of the town. Anna marries Tom Binfield, a locomotive engineer. Shortly afterwards, Hudson escapes from jail. The man secures a position as fireman on the railroad and is assigned to Tom's engine. Tom invites the convict to board at his home. Anna fails to recognize her husband's fireman when the man comes to live at the Binfield cottage. Hudson, however, is filled with an insane desire for revenge upon seeing Anna. An attempt to shoot her is unconsciously frustrated by her husband. The convict thereupon resolves to punish Anna through Tom. Hudson's opportunity comes the following day. Just before their train passes the Binfield cottage, the scoundrel strikes Tom over the head with a wrench. Believing his victim dead, Hudson leaps from the engine. Anna, however, sees Tom's body hanging from the locomotive cab. At frightful risk to her own life, the girl succeeds in saving her husband.
(episode 40) The Limited's PERIL
Wharton, trailing Red Leary and his gang, learns that the men intend to wreck the Limited. Curley, a fireman, is implicated. The crooks become aware of Wharton's presence and attack him. Helen comes to the detective's rescue with a revolver and captures one of the men. Undaunted, the rest of the gang plant dynamite in a culvert. Adair comes upon them just as they are in the act. The crooks capture the detective, bind him, and then place their victim so near the dynamite that the explosion will kill him. One of the desperadoes tries to capture Helen, but the girl flees and attempts to cross the drawbridge a short distance away. The crook overtakes her and the two battle as the draw is raised. Falling, they roll down the incline. Helen's assailant is stunned and the girl gains her freedom. The draw is lowered and the girl rushes back to rescue Wharton. Red Leary's men have connected the detonating charge to a push button which is placed on the track. Thus the Limited in passing over.
(episode 72) The Detective's PERIL
(episode 109) The Lineman's PERIL
