Tree worship

Film Comment chose nearly the same film-frame as we did in a post at our last forum, showing that jaw-droppingly magnificent tree, for their article on the films of Ghatak. It's no wonder - I don't think I've seen a more regal or more grand tree anywhere before.

Indeed it was my first ever post in that thread:

i don't understand this one. why would they use a skeleton without flesh? we would never put up a christmas tree without needles.

maybe trees eat human flesh for Christmas dinner???
or maybe by hanging Christmas decorations on a skeleton (and not stabbing them into the human flesh) one avoids having blood stains on the white carpet and on Christmas gifts???
besides, i wonder why only dad-tree is dressed and mom-tree and kids-trees celebrate Christmas nude???

i assume the trees would embalm the human bodies before selling them as christmas decorations? i think that would fix the fluids and allow them to last longer (but would also increase the cost).

so, this ↑ is probably a picture of how Christmas is celebrated by poor trees.
rich trees' Christmas might look vastly different ↓

now, i feel like due to a silly conversation the cool tree didn't get proper attention.
it's always like this on the internet.
so, once again...
a very nice tree and a very nice photo!

the cherry tree with gray blossoms (sumiko haneda, 1977) makes a perfect complement to a previously watched laila pakalniņa film (the oak, 1997) seeing as they're practically the same film from different cultural angles (sumiko is poetic, reverent.....laila is funny)
