my buddy was in town over the weekend to do his oral quals, and of course ended up passing, so on saturday night to celebrate we did a little bar/restaurant crawl, and in sum total we ended up crushing (in order) a dozen raw oysters, an order of steak au poivre with pommes frites, little neck clams in a spicy tomato sauce, scallops with lemon aioli, a shrimp cocktail, fried duck necks and gizzards, two foielipops (foie gras hidden inside a puff of cotton candy and dusted with pop rocks), four pimento cheese deviled eggs, one charcuterie platter, and to top it all off one twenty-count order of chicken mcnuggets straight from the drive thru cuz of course at this point in the night what else can you do? so the next morning, feeling like shit, we went to brunch, and had fried jumbo shrimp, crab puffs, and fried oyster rockefeller bennies. all of these various foods were accompanied by various champagnes, red wines, white wines, bourbon whiskies, gins, vodkas, and beers. kids, the moral of the story is: when your buddy does good, you should always take that as an opportunity to drink copious amounts of alcohol and eat ridiculous amounts of luxurious foods; and when you feel like shit the next morning, you do it all over again

i've been doing no added sugar now for a couple of weeks, feeling pretty great and nearly all cravings for sweets have subsided. most difficult task was finding compliant salad dressings (tessemae's are great); homemade greek yogurt dressing has been my favorite new discovery.

found some tasty looking no added sugar recipes here:
30 Days Of Meals You Can Eat During A Sugar Detox

highly recommend two ingredient pancakes (2 eggs to 1 banana per serving - with optional baking powder for fluffiness, or vanilla/cinnamon for flavor, topped with all-natural peanut butter drizzle or fruit) to everyone. here's a good recipe

weekly sushi joint blowout: miso soup and oshinko (went a quasi-soup-and-salad route), zaru soba, ohitashi, an eel roll, then tuna, mackerel, and octopus nigiri. thoxans: single-handedly depleting the world’s fisheries one gluttonous blowout at a time (funnily enough (i hate that term, ‘funnily enough’ (‘funnily’ sounds like a word that peeps who didn’t know words would say to make it sound like they knew some words)) this is on the more low key side of a sushi joint blowout for me)

paprika, cumin, cayenne, and the wildcard: sumac.

i don't normally go too much for salmon, but it looks really good on that salad.

like dried spices? crushed red pepper flakes

i'm good with that. sometimes i'll use basil or oregano, most typically when i'm making pasta sauce from scratch, and there's one indian dish my dad taught me that uses cumin, tumeric and coriander... but besides that and salt/pepper, i don't really use spices. other things i use to enhance flavour include sriracha, soy sauce, cayenne sauce, various vinegars, etc... much prefer that sorta liquid flavour i guess. never really thought about it!

Wow, this question surprisingly reveals a lot about a person !

Myself; everything must be teetering along the edge of being overseasoned with smoked paprika and cumin. As far as fresh herbs go, I'm a parsley and mint kind of guy. Alliums(?); chives and garlic. Acids(????); Balsamic vinegar and worcestershire sauce. Oils; olive and rapeseed
