I rescued this kitten a few days ago and he obviously likes The Cure. The band will play on July 4 at Exit festival in Novi Sad and I already bought tickets.

Mashrou' Leila. These guys are participating in an installation at MoMA but I don't think I can embed the link. Marry those two lines together if you want to navigate to it.

They were in the news recently. The Catholic church in Lebanon wants their festival concert cancelled because blasphemy. They were detained for a short interrogation. Apparently the police wanted to make sure they were not devil worshipers. Sigh.

I guess that shows they're doing something right. I didn't realize the Catholic Church had much pull in Lebanon.

Coincidentally, I was just listening to Minnie Riperton. Her song

you can see people arguing in the comments about how synths ruined music
i've gone down the rabbit hole a bit and discovered joseph byrd the genius of this band was from tucson

still alive in northern california, age 81
"The idea was to create a radical experience. It didn't succeed. For one thing, I had assembled too many personalities; every rehearsal became group therapy. A band that wants to succeed needs a single, mutually acceptable identity. I tried to do it democratically, and it was not successful."
others described him as a 'control freak'

the band made one album and was one of the first to use electronic devices. strange art project
We were very conscious that we were plunging into rock without any real knowledge of, or experience in, the medium. We had played Cage and Stockhausen, African and Indian music, and I thought we could simply bring all that to rock. But we knew almost nothing about the roots of rock and roll. We all improvised, of course, but in a "contemporary music" style. In retrospect, creating a rock band with no rock musicians was a bad decision on my part. Still, since I considered myself the most eclectic composer on the planet, I was confident that whatever the others couldn’t do I could write.

More like some committees intend to investigate the shit out of him, holding lot's of hearings, fighting court cases over subpoenas and attempts to deny them records, and keep doing that until the election and pursue an actual impeachment process, rather than an impeachment inquiry, if he's reelected and they continue to hold the congress and maybe somehow pick up the senate. It's not quite the same, but since there's no chance right now the senate would actually remove him from power, it's probably the best they can do unless things change drastically, which holding hearings might help, maybe, if people actually paid attention and were worried about little things like the constitution, laws, and ethics. But as we aren't a political site I probably shouldn't have mentioned any of that. Just don't want to get too excited about it yet with still so far to go and a judiciary that may not be entirely helpful.
