If you're in an area with any population density at all, say a college town or city, then enjoy the raise while you can as rent is likely to rise to eat up the gain in income, if the experience of much of the Pacific Northwest is followed. When our minimum wage went up, the rents increased by, roughly, 200 bucks a month at approximately the same time.

My wage won't increase because we already had a "raise" and I was already making a slight bit more than minimum. So the bottom wages rose, but the wages just above barely moved at all. It raises the floor, but doesn't much impact the ceiling for hourly workers since they are deemed replaceable and small business owners hate wage increases.

we've had $15 minimum in nyc for awhile now and it doesn't seem to have impacted rents in any meaningful way (although nyc rents are wildly over inflated for the last 15 years which might explain that).

certainly think raising wages across the board can only help but there needs to be much more done to eliminate lots of other anti-worker practices (like fucking with peoples hours to keep them from being full time for example) to make any difference...

Companies like factories that require large staffs long ago discovered the tactic of outsourcing their hiring to temp agencies as a way of wiggling out of providing benefits or basic job security -- that's a big pet-peeve of mine.

our union has been fighting to get us a raise without losing our medical plan here in our lovely 'right-to-work' state. i'm assuming the only reason it's a threat is because trump killed the individual mandate? i'm telling my friends not to worry. people diss the union all the time, they refuse to join and then don't understand why it has so little power, despite my attempts to explain it. i'm a member out of principle. and yes i've been working 40 hrs a week for ten years but can't get the coveted 'full-time status' because i work in multiple departments ... if this backpay for frontline workers happens, that would be fantastic. it looks like biden is planning to go big and for myself and other poor people, i'm glad. i can't hope for my country to be destroyed, too many people will suffer! basically can't see the forest for the trees here... also fascist dictatorship seems a much more likely outcome than worker's paradise but i guess we'll find out

In July 2018, CNN reported that The White House had suspended the practice of publishing public summaries of President Donald Trump's phone calls with world leaders, two sources with knowledge of the situation told CNN, bringing an end to a common exercise from the Republican and Democratic administrations.[8]

In May 2019, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the National Security Archive, and the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration alleging that President Donald Trump and senior advisers such as Jared Kushner were failing to meet their legal obligations under the Presidential Records Act to create and to preserve records of top-level meetings with foreign leaders.[9][10]

In October 2019, an outgoing information security officer warned that with the transfer to the White House Communications Agency, political appointees would be in charge of electronic records.[11]

In December 2020, a group of historians sued (National Security Archive v. Trump, 20-cv-03500, U.S. District Court, District of Columbia) the Trump administration over its failure to preserve historical records in violation of the Presidential Records Act. Specifically they claimed that Jared Kushner was in violation of the Act by taking screen shots of his WhatsApp posts that do not include metadata, attachments, or other digital artifacts needed to authenticize the information.[12]
