chor yuen was one of the greats...really hope one day more of his early melodramas become available.

kpac lalitha, one of the iconic faces of malayalam movies, 73 seems very young but still she was in something around 500 movies (not including tv shows) since '69, with several more still scheduled to air. from beloved popular films like manichitrathazhu and his highness abdullah to famous movies adoor gopalakrishnan (kodiyettam, kathapurushan, mathilukal - where she plays the voice outside the wall), bharathan (who she married)...

A truly terribly news and a tragic loss for Lithuanian cinema. I met him in 2011 and talked to him a couple of times when I was working for Vilnius Film Festival and he was presenting his acclaimed documentary Barzakh about war torn Chechnya. He also made a documentary Mariupolis about Ukrainian city that has been completely destroyed by the Russians. He was killed nearby Mariupol.

Tonight, Vilnius International Film Festival had a closing night and, promptly, changed the closing film to Mariupolis, in Memoriam for Mantas Kvedaravičius.

one of the most unique american artists - https://www.christianitytoday.com/news/ ... toons.html

the chick tracts of course are totally vile, but such an unacknowledged hum in the background of american life...

Carter’s first tract may have been The Last Generation, which starts with the supreme court of a one-world government ruling that anyone who says Jesus is the only way to salvation will be committed to “a mental camp for treatment and or … be executed!”
things don't change much in the paranoid community! i wonder if i saw some of these as a child - i remember 'tracts' but nothing particular :hmm:

How sad.. A brilliant actor.

I also still remember when in 2003 his daughter Marie Trintignant was killed here in Vilnius by her boyfriend French singer Bertrand Cantat. It happened at the hotel, right across the street from where I lived. She was in Vilnius to star as Colette, in a production co-written with and directed by her mother, with her brother Vincent as first assistant director and featuring her son Roman.

Also loved his precise and satiric portrayal of Henry Kissinger in Nixon (1995).
