Hmmmmm... my top 10 (arranged mainly by how much I liked her performances):

01. LADY OF BURLESQUE
02. ALL I DESIRE
03. THE MIRACLE WOMAN
04. REMEMBER THE NIGHT
05. MEET JOHN DOE
06. THE LADY EVE
07. DOUBLE INDEMNITY
08. THE STRANGE LOVE OF MARTHA IVERS
09. THE GREAT MAN'S LADY
10. BALL OF FIRE

Gaps in my viewing are a couple of those dramas from the '50s that are highly praised and quite a few of the earlier films. 'Night Nurse' is one I must rewatch. I loved the sauciness and suggestiveness when I watched it years ago!

Watched Night Nurse which is fun and certainly has Stanwyck firing already early on in her film career but becomes bogged down in a boring plot in the second half. Don't think it'll make my list. Gonna keep this open a while longer.

Not sure what criteria I should be applying, but I've seen 11, and there are a few where her performance stood out for me:

Clash By Night
The Furies
Ladies Of Leisure

Very superficial this but I prefer her 1930's hair to her 1940's hair.

Actually, come to think of it...that might just apply to most actresses active at the time.

The Lady Eve
Double Indemnity
The Miracle Woman
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers
No Man of Her Own
The Furies
Annie Oakley
Baby Face
Bitter Tea of General Yen
Stella Dallas
The Night Walker

Seen a lot, but not quite as many as Rischka. Chosen for representative of Stanwyck first, film second, to the best of my recollection.

Glad I held out!

The Night Walker is 11th on the list, though, so won't get any points...

Gonna watch a couple more and close this week.

Yeah, my movie-watching fell off a cliff when things started re-opening here, apologies. Anyone who wants to add a ballot or a film is welcome to do so this week, will close and put up a new poll on Monday. Now, who shall it be?

I will close this (for real this time) on Sunday, any suggestions for our next one? If not I'll put a few names I have in mind into a randomiser.

A horror star might be a good pick if it's going to run through October

A horror star...please...c'mon Evelyn just say it, you want Lugosi. We all know you and Magpies got the Lugosi bug and only a poll can satisfy it. j/k

Otherwise, if we want someone more international, there's always Klaus Kinski. Both a horror star and a horrifying one.

Any other actor poll ideas, throw them my way, but I'm thinking Trintignant.
