Yes. As long as there's any discernable theme tying the movies together, it's allowed

i am just watching (for the 1963 poll) a film with a journalist falling off a tree...
Image

considering there is also "Broken Fall: Organic" (Bas Jan Ader, 1971)...
Image

now, i only need 2-3 more films of this kind and i can change my currently picked genre for another called "films where people fall off trees".

^ yes please

and reminder to anyone currently or futurely participating (or just watching selected movies) to add your letterboxd account so we can see what you've seen

well, if anyone wants to see each and every movie i've seen in the past few years, then he/she has to click on kinometer link in my signature area.
i never really made a transition from mubi to letterboxd and once kinometer emerged i settled there to my thorough satisfaction.
on letterboxd i only stalk other ppl and post silly reviews (mostly lyrics from songs sung in the particular movie) and thus my letterboxd doesn't truly & wholly represent my cinephilia.

yeah no problem if a few things slip through the cracks for a few people; it's more just to see if a movie you're picking has already been seen by 0 people, by 2-3 people, or - when it starts to get a little silly, for me - by 5+ people. but to each their own, just don't pick seven samurai (though i'll probably vote for you if you do)

was gonna make a joke about "oh i can't do my theme of movies with seven in the title?" and then list four super-canon movies, the obviously two being the Kurosawa and the Bergman, but there are actually a ton of awesome (and some not so canon) such movies. as well as Samurai and Seal, i gave all of the following at least 3.5/5

7th heaven (borzage version + king's remake)
seven sweethearts (borzage)
seven chances (keaton)
seven thieves (hathaway)
the seven year itch (wilder)
seven days in may (frankenheimer)
seven brides for seven broskies (donen)
seven men from now (boetticher)
the seventh bullet (khamraev)
magnificent seven (sturges)
call northside 777 (hathway)

and there are tons of others that just weren't my cup of tea (cleo from 5 to 7, the seventh victim). pound for pound, seven might be the best number in film titles. i'm sure there are more great films with "one" and "two" and even "three" but that's not really the same. do five, six, eight, nine or ten come close to what seven does? i doubt it

Miguel Gomes's The Face You Deserve has a good falling-out-of-a-tree scene.

the more the better, 5+ (but with space in between if people want, so folks aren't tired and weary for the last rounds)

so i looked at all my 4/5, 4.5/5, 5/5 movies on letterboxd, and i've found 79 candidates that 0-2 other scfzers have seen... including a whole bunch of docs; you doc folk are making me want to do that too

missing letterboxd info from several folks here (and from people who won't participate but still might watch some movies?)

i probably have most people already... but for example, flabrezu is looking at potential movies to pick, and one of them shows up for him as having been seen by 2 scfzers - but 7 if i look at it

there's no requirement that movies be unseen - i like it when a round includes a movie or two i've already seen, because it makes it easier to vote in some of the matches if i happen to be short on time that week or month or whatever

oh definitely doesn't have to be unseen, and it's up to each participant! i'm going for about 0-3, maybe 4 max, myself. i think 7 people here already having seen a movie would get pretty crazy, though

but at the very least i think people should know how many people have seen movies already, so they can decide :P
