I was surprised by how close it was since Mifune's career is much more varied in quality and quantity then Hara's, so I assumed that would drag him down. Then I figured maybe some people just hadn't seen as many of Mifune's movies and he won based on a smaller selection, but some of the people on team Mifune were in the higher numbers of viewings, so it seems like a solid result. Based maybe on a bit less love of Ozu and Naruse than I expected and maybe more Kurosawa love than expected in comparison?

Moar people need to see Hara in her femme fatale role in A Woman in the Typhoon Area.

maybe they should be counted as ties? not saying that for this poll (i would have had the result exactly right but i don't have any good ideas for the next showdown) but just because it can skew the results in a maybe misleading way if we ever showdown people who might be a bit unseen.

Phillips currently has only 72 ratings from champs (and just 97 views). Figueroa is in better shape: 260.

I don't think Phillips will make a good showdown. I need a plan B.
