ok, results are tallied. interesting: in the five year period from 1938 to 1942, walsh made 11 films, and an astounding 10 of them got a vote in this poll (all but st louis blues, which only has 11 total views on letterboxd). meanwhile, in the last fifteen years of his career, from 1950-1964, he made more than 20 films, and only two got any support (none from after 1953) -- edit: that all changed with arkheia's ballot, which included three new post-1950 walsh films.

results

1. The Big Trail (1930) -- 33 pts
2. White Heat (1949) -- 25 pts
3. The Roaring Twenties (1939) -- 21 pts

Wow! That's amazing dedication! :-D :-D

Seen 4 -- not that it probably matters since the list has already been tallied, but still:

The Big Trail
Gentleman Jim

both of these two I find massively underrated -- at least on a grander scope than niche find.
