I'm just pleased Garbo got seven. I was worried she wouldn't get any at all. Tough competing against someone who worked with so many top level directors when she alone was often the dominant reason to watch her films. There aren't many actors who so warp the texture of their films like Garbo did, pulling everything else towards her. Davis might be close, but in an entirely different, more aggressively demanding, manner.

Very true, which explains why i’ve only seen a pitiful 3 movies starring Garbo. I tend to choose what movies to watch based on who directed them as opposed who starred in them.
