wasn't sure what to expect of this poll, and the winner isn't what i would have guessed. every single verhoeven feature film got a vote with one exception: hollow man (2000) did not appear on a single ballot.

2. Showgirls (1995) -- 23 pts
3. RoboCop (1987) -- 22 pts
4. Elle (2016) -- 16 pts
4. Starship Troopers (1997) -- 16 pts
6. The 4th Man (1983) -- 12 pts
7. Black Book (2006) -- 10 pts
7. Soldier of Orange (1977) -- 10 pts
9. Turkish Delight (1973) -- 8 pts
9. Flesh and Blood (1985) -- 8 pts
11. Total Recall (1990) -- 5 pts
12. Katie Tippel (1975) -- 4 pts
13. Diary of a Hooker (1971) -- 3 pts
13. Spetters (1980) -- 3 pts
15. Tricked (2012) -- 1 pt

Wow, my deciding to watch something for this poll actually made a difference! Glad Total Recall didn't make the list; I found it fairly dull

booo!!! it's one of the best uhmurican action films of the '90s! it also has a great anticolonialist streak! it's also wonderfully open-ended! we don't really ever know whether arnie's reality is really real post-visit-to-rekall, or whether everything we've just watched post-visit-to-rekall is really just a fully realized version of the reality that arnie wanted, based on the memory trip package that he bought and paid for. plus the awesome special effects! plus michael ironside! plus the girl with three you-know-what! classic!!!
