OK let's figure out how won this thing:

1. Who wins, and by how much? Lumet +14
2. What Allen movie did champs rate the highest? I'm going to allow Deconstructing Harry
3. What Lumet movie did champs rate the highest? 12 Angry Men
4. Which champ has the seen the most Allen movies? How many did said champ see? John Ryan 48
5. Which champ has the seen the most Lumet movies? How many did said champ see? gregx 30

bure was the closest on question # 1, so I'll give him a point for that.

Scores:
  • Silga: 0 points
  • Mesnalty: 1 point
  • brian d: 0 points
  • john ryan: 1 point
  • flip: 2 points
  • bure: 2 points
So it's either flip or bure. I guess question # 1 is worth more, so bure wins by a hair? Fair?

Silga, your average Allen movies rating is 0.59 stars higher than your overall average rating, so I declare you SCFZ's biggest Allen enthusiast. The biggest Allen hater is penalosa (-0.82 stars). Other notable Allen haters include gregx and tendulkar.

I guess there are other directors that I rate even higher, but given that Allen is my most seen director this line of stats is impressive.

I'll be honest, I was bad and didn't update my ratings on letterboxd, so Lumet prob would have won for me. But either way, I always love these showdowns and thank you kanafani for putting in the work. In the future I will place my bets, and I'm in the process of updating ALL of my letterboxd ratings soon, as they were all based on imported IMDb ratings from years ago - only things rated 4 stars or higher are currently up to date.

i think i'm getting a point for guessing who had seen the most woody allen movies, which doesn't count for much in my book, so bure wins by more than a hair, since he got the important question right!

fascinating results as always, thanks for running the numbers! i was especially interested in seeing how scfz views lumet, and i guess most of scfz doesn't view lumet, based on how few ratings he's gotten. for some reason, i watched a lot of lumet when i was first seriously getting interested in film, but haven't seen much recently - i might have been inspired to revisit a few films if the stats here had been different, but after rewatching 12 angry men a few months ago, i think only the verdict interests me.

I was amused to see Flip and I had 18 Lumet movies rated 2 stars or less, but only one duplicate. Seems we feel about the same regarding Lumet overall, but differ widely on how we came to our end results.
