Banner competition
Re: Banner competition
"[It] is a revolutionary film, in spite of Tati: the film completely overshadowed the creator. In films, what is important is the point where the film no longer has an auteur, where it has no more actors, no more story even, no more subject, nothing left but the film itself speaking and saying something that cannot be translated: the point where it becomes the discourse of someone or something else, which cannot be said, precisely because it is beyond expression. And I think you can only get there by trying to be as passive as possible at all the various stages, never intervening on one's own behalf but rather on behalf of this something else which is nameless." — Rivette
oh i see, you’re going to throw rivette quotes at me to convince me that i’m wrong about it.

*I* certainly wouldn't know how to argue against that suggestion.

we should have another banner-making "competition" once we get the winner of the 2010s poll!

thx you guys, that's an indelible image for me
can we keep this banner forever? or just come back to it every winter? i love it.
I did this banner from Voices Through Time (1996) a while ago and then forgot about it. Franco Piavoli is an old man from Lombardy, hope he's alright, most of his films are set in that location.

beautiful, thank you. That's arguably my favorite film of all time, though I haven't seen it in almost 10 years. Piavoli is my favorite director. Hope he is doing alright if he is in Italy right now.
What do yall think? Time for an ol switcheroo?
new banner looks amazing, great work greennui!
the new banner looks kinda shitty to me.
Saw the film once from 35mm in a theater. It was a nice experience, but nothing special.

New banner looks kewl. As if a small child is grabbing my hand and wanting to see a kino with with me.
