Foundry Town (1962) vs. Birthright (1939)
I told yall I would come through on my last two rounds with shit that none of yall had seen. Now, I dunno what yall have seen. Angel has seen everything, right? But I tried my best. I hope that this is some shit you've never heard of and that you dig it. And that if you already knew about it you dig it anyway.
Sorry, Bure, I've seen it. It's a good one.

Foundry Town didn't really ring true to me, but it's well-shot; there seems to be an incredible abundance of talent in Japanese cinema in the 50s and 60s.
Birthright is rougher around the edges, obviously. I've only seen one sound film from Micheaux now, but my impression is he was more comfortable in the silent era. Still, this one feels more genuine. Not enough to get my vote, unfortunately - I was still won over by Urayama's skill, and he was the more interesting discovery of this matchup for me.
