Kazimierz Kutz is a name that comes immediately to my mind when I think best director no one's ever heard of, and if anyone had voted for a Director's Cup he'd be my horse. However, since I doubt there'll ever be another of those, reckoned I might as well run one. And that's all I've got to say about it.

The Chinese movie is very fine too, much better than "Summer Snow" - but is it in the "Pearls in the Crown" league? Nope, but probably champsers'll disagree.

Will have it up this weekend, less someone wants to go on and do it earlier. Those who're champing at the bit for super champion cuppin competitions.

i have a letterboxd list precisely of those directors:

https://letterboxd.com/fliptrotsky/list ... -informal/

and i'd be happy to add kutz to that list if you'd suggest a few representative films in the comments there (either 3 films or 5, don't want to break filmmakers into different rows)

Excellent films both, and I reckon that they are in fact in the same league. Hard to pick, so I'll go with the one that affected me more..

Two days left for this contest and only one vote? Guess the "Cup" ain't inspiring folks much this year.

Tough decision. In both movies characters have really serious problems under the surface of things, even when conflicts were somehow solved.

I don't remember how Blush ends, but didn't anyone here wipe away a tear or two when the battle's finally over, the half-dead men emerge totally black from the pit, and then, in those dialogue-free final moments, our hero is washed clean by his family like Jesus just off the cross and is tucked into bed while Wojciech Kilar's magnificent score plays over the scene? No?

Trust me, I'm not trying to rally people to my side, I don't stay up nights dreaming of ways. It is of supreme indifference to me whether "my" film "wins" a superchamp event. I only find it curious that no one has mentioned one of the best endings in all the movies.

Total of five votes. Maybe best kill the Cup until when, if, there's enough champions around who're interested in it. Those old "Auteurs" ones got a lot of participation, but here barely anyone cares.
