Wouldn't be the underrated masterpiece a summer place would it?
Damn it! I wanted to at least get to post a couple more stills before someone guessed it. But, yes, it is indeed A Summer Place and I dig it muchly along with the other Daves of similar ilk, like Parrish and Susan Slade.
Well, here's a couple I was debating for the next clue anyway just for the heck of it.

hmm i guess i need to add this to my watchlist...
It's insanely good. Daves is so versatile it borders on the criminal. I swear he had an almost Kurosawa-mifune level of ability to capture Troy Donahue, but a summer place is surely his most evocative, considerate and tactfully composed of the four (?) they did together. He films spaces like a western and the faces and body movements like pure melodrama. Arthur Kennedy is one of my all-time favourites so I'm biased but I think his performance is one of the great supporting roles in Hollywood history
sold! i love arthur kennedy
No idea, but i’m quite sure it isn’t linklater. Another pic?
Could we introduce "wild-card players", as they do in some tennis grand-slam tournaments, where we have a bunch of players like me at scfz who never manage to guess the films correctly but still get randomly chosen (say every five rounds or so) to be the next person to start with a new film, even though we've never won a single game here?
definition: A wild card is a tournament or playoff berth awarded to an individual or team that fails to qualify.

Pabs, next time I win (which probably might not be anytime soon), I shall donate my turn to you.pabs wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 12:57 pm Could we introduce "wild-card players", as they do in some tennis grand-slam tournaments, where we have a bunch of players like me at scfz who never manage to guess the films correctly but still get randomly chosen (say every five rounds or so) to be the next person to start with a new film, even though we've never won a single game here?

Thanks, man! But maybe there're a few other people who wanna play that you could give it to before me. We need a hands-up of SCFZers who would like to have a turn posting for this quiz.kanafani wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 3:15 pmPabs, next time I win (which probably might not be anytime soon), I shall donate my turn to you.pabs wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 12:57 pm Could we introduce "wild-card players", as they do in some tennis grand-slam tournaments, where we have a bunch of players like me at scfz who never manage to guess the films correctly but still get randomly chosen (say every five rounds or so) to be the next person to start with a new film, even though we've never won a single game here?

The Killing ?
The Big Combo
Cornel Wilde's eyebrows gave it away and I knew I'd seen that building before.

Assuming that's right, I'll pass the posting turn to pabs

Oh darn, I recall loving The Big Combo. Just haven't seen it in ten years...
Anyone else who hasn't had a chance to post stills want to have a go?
I guess not. Hit us with a pic!
