i liked it a lot, but i'm at the buying letters collection stage of interest in warner; it reminded me, in the very compressed vignettes and a certain cruelty, of her late kingdoms of elfin stories, which i think are some of her best work.

but it's an odd book, it took me ages to actually read, and i'm not sure if the strange shape of the book is entirely to its benefit...
