The same kind of trick-film/special effects stuff that Buster's character shot in The Cameraman. Optical-printer stuff done in-camera. One gimmick I've never seen anywhere else.

tom hanks is fun here i almost forgive him for forrest gump hill. almost
in her last moments before execution she thinks of her cat and her cat knows
and yet... the cat doesn't seem overly concerned
it's a beautiful sequence and gifs can't do it justice, one of many reasons dishonored is my favorite dietrich/vs
