How weird -- two documentaries on subjects that interest me, and both of them rubbed me the wrong way. American Hardcore completely ignores the anarchist peace-punks and makes the whole subculture look like an eruption of gang-related violence... and Edward James, BoD erases the subject's manifest queerness with some kinda whitewashed silence.
The opposite of 'reify' is... ?
The bit with the interviews with James's male and female secretaries is funny, but yeah. Neither of these films were among my favorites from the cup, but I did learn a lot from the Edward James doc, since I only knew him as a patron of the surrealists and the guy whose head is in Not to Be Reproduced, so xBuilders gets my vote.
