his wife is a managing director at goldman sachs -- i doubt they had to fly coach lol

why isn't he being thrown out of the senate along with his fellow insurrectionist josh hawley?? they're trying to pin it on oath keepers and proud boys, which sure, but they have a damn good defense -- the president of the united states told them to do it! if we're not excising this cancer right now i want to know why :x there's no serious effort to shore up the republic that i can see. letting GOP traitors participate in an investigation of the events they CAUSED??? they shouldn't even be allowed to participate in our democracy

sry i'm mad again, will go watch a film

It's true tho. America's extreme adherence to leftist ideology is turning the whole world communist. I know that personally when you mention America, my first thought is coupons for 2-for-1 Big Macs. But probably my second thought is facilitating the global spread of anti-capitalism. My third thought is Garth Brooks.

but that's just pathetic, and expected. but pretty sure most of the nation aren't going to get a cecil b demille reference. i'm just horrified to think he sits down quietly sometimes and chuckles to edward everett horton or something.

I wonder if how many got the Scylla and Charybdis reference. Maybe the Bullingdon club had a film circle...

As I have not commented on Norwegian politics in a while, this is a fitting time to do so, as, the last two weeks has changed how this election will go - but: we don't know in what way yet.

The polling, which is generally consistent and stable, now seems completely out of control.

2 weeks ago the leader of the Progress Party (a right-wing populist party), Siv Jensen announced she was stepping down after 15 years in the role. During this time she has been one of Norway's most powerful politicians, serving as the Finance minister and number 2 in the Liberal/Conservative Government until stepping out of the coalition a year ago (as it was hurting their poll numbers). The result was the party, which was once Norway's second-biggest party, and in every election other election in recent memory have been the 3rd biggest (out of 9 parliamentary parties) into poll numbers below 10%.

The response/solution is potentially unnerving - in her place we are likely to get Sylvi Listhaug - who more than almost anyone else in the Progress Party is reminiscent of Trump in degrees of overt xenophobia and scaremongering, actively pushing socially Conservative culture war items - and even leaning into/not denouncing conspiracy theories. She is a figure that mobilizes the more extreme wing of a party, and enjoys controversy - and this leaves the question:

Will this send a signal that racism is ok, and will it turn the Progress Party into a more overtly controversial and extreme party - similar to the Fascist-curious "Sweden Democrats"? And if so - will this make them more or less appealing to the voters at large? If less - great - while the rhetoric being louder and more prominent will cause harm - the decrease of the party's status to a small party on the fringes/sidelines would also offer them decreasing amount of media focus, relevance and believability. It would also seriously infringe on their ability to affect policy. However, if it skyrockets them up in the polls - it is a far more sinister scenario.

There have been 4 polls since it was clear she was the front runner, with very different results.

However, in an additional, odd turn of events, the furthest left-leaning party (The Red Party) has the complete opposite polling as well - getting their worst poll numbers on one - and getting some of their highest - to the point of almost being bigger than the Progress Party in another ...

Let's see the numbers:

Image

*The red line in the middle splits the left and the right alliances, the arrow pointing down shows the destruction of the Red Party - the arrow pointing up shows the rise of the Progress Party.

Image

*The red line in the middle splits the left and the right alliances, the arrow pointing up shows the relative rise of the Red Party - the arrow pointing up down shows the loss of support for the Progress Party.

Image

*Here we see a massive increase for the Red Party, and a small decrease (from an already low number) for the Progress Party.

Image

*Here we once again see the Red Party in big trouble, while the Progress Party gets a very nice jum.

-

From this it is very hard to get a complete picture, though balanced out, it would seem slightly more likely Listhaug will get the party an increase of support - while the Red Party - oddly - is in a bit of trouble.

-

However, the election is still likely to tip to the left.

Based on the best poll for the left:

Image

*If this would be the result, the Progress Party would only be the 5th biggest (and 5th smallest) party in parliament, with the Conservative Party, the Labour Party, the Centre Party and the Socialist Party all getting more MPs. The Red Party would only have 1 less MP (13 vs 12 out of 169 in total).

Based on the best poll for the right:

Image

In this result, the Progress party would be the 4th biggest party by a sizable margin, with 24 MPs - and as the Liberal Party gets over 4% as well, they are also strong with 9 MPs. The Christian Democrats are under 2%, and only have 2 as a result - however - were they to go over 4% - they would get 7-8 (5-6 more) and in this case it would be a near-even election.

-

Norway does not go to the polls until Septembber 13th - a lot can happen until then - and the election of Listhaug as the Leader of the Progress Party could change everything (especially if the Red Party can not get over the 4% threshold).

2015 poll viewing No27:
THE COMMUNIST REVOLUTION WAS CAUSED BY THE SUN (Anton Vidokle)
https://letterboxd.com/film/the-communi ... y-the-sun/
The second film of Anton Vidokle’s trilogy on Russian cosmism looks at the poetic dimension of solar cosmology of Soviet biophysicist, Alexander Chizhevsky. Shot in Kazakhstan, where Chizhevsky was imprisoned and later exiled, the film introduces Сhizhevsky’s research into the impact of solar emissions on human sociology, psychology, politics and economics in the form of wars, revolutions, epidemics and other upheavals.
Immortality for All: A Film Trilogy on Russian Cosmism by Anton Vidokle
https://blafferartmuseum.org/anton_vidokle/

Russian Cosmism was founded by Nikolai Fyodorov (1829–1903), an eccentric Moscow librarian and teacher. The ultimate goal of technology, he posited, must be to overcome mortality and, eventually, to resurrect the dead. Combining ideas from the Western Enlightenment, Eastern philosophy, Russian Orthodox religion and Marxism, this utopian philosophy inspired a wide range of thinkers until it was driven underground by Stalinism in the late 1920s.Cosmism inspired artists and architects associated with the Suprematist and Constructivist movements, who used abstract symbols and new industrial materials to imagine a radically new world after the Bolshevik Revolution. Fyodorov’s belief that outer space must be colonized to relieve a world overflowing with immortals is also believed to have influenced his former student Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (1857 – 1935), founder of the Soviet space program.

I googled that statement and could only find like one legit seeming source reporting on it. That type of marginalization definitely is very satisfying.

BREAKING NEWS!
LAST FRONTIER OF THE PATRIARCHATE IS BEING MOVED ON THE MOON!
https://nypost.com/2021/03/11/scientist ... -the-moon/
Scientists have begun to lay plans for repopulation, starting with a sperm bank — on the moon.
As our planet faces natural disasters, drought, asteroids and the potential for nuclear war — to name a few troubles — scientists say that humans must set their sights on space travel to preserve life as we know it.
After the upcoming cataclysm and subsequent repopulation of the Earth, the title of the best-selling book is gonna be "Men Are from Moon, Women Are from Mars".

not only do i know absolutely nothing about dutch politics, i don't even know where dutch people are from. denmark? nope, those are the danes (i believe...?). belgium? ofc not, those are the belgians, the people who (i think...?) speak french and/or swedish for some reason, even though they're not french and/or swedish. so where does that leave the dutch? luxembourg? possibly cuz no one in the world knows what those people are called. holland? i think this might be it, even though it makes no sense...? i mean, i could google it, but what fun is there in that?

Luxembourg is not a country.
it is only a duty-free zone (expanded beyond the airport area).
not sure they even have an airport tho.
House of Luxembourg ruled Bohemia in the middle ages (after them the Austrian Habsburgs came).
when the only local feudal ruling dynasty (Přemyslids) got extinct Luxembourgs took the throne.
since then, Bohemians are incapable to rule themselves.
we are good at assassinations & boycotts but once we are supposed to rule ourselves we are clueless.
all the local troubles with governance started with Luxembourgs!
actually, the local decline started (even before) when local Celts & druids left.
that was the real tragedy!
because Celts were the only locals capable to vandalize even Rome and bring to Bohemia high culture and first-class art artefacts.
p.s. Přemyslids were Slavic dudes who got rich by selling slaves (ppl they randomly caught) to Maurs.
p.s.p.s. Slavic "Bohemians" are not real Bohemians (real Bohemians were Celtic) — Slavs only appropriated the brand.
p.s.p.s.p.s. Bologna (the Italian site of Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival) was brought to its glory by Bohemian Celts who left Bohemia.
p.s.p.s.p.s.p.s. Bavaria was founded by German tribes (who replaced Celtic tribes) who fled from Bohemia (running away due to arriving Slavs).
p.s.p.s.p.s.p.s.p.s. this is the history of East-Central Europe in nutshell.
p.s.p.s.p.s.p.s.p.s.p.s. skipping the tale of the origin of Lombardy (populated by German tribes after leaving Bohemia) because i don't want to make it too complicated.

they did defenestrations well in the past. are they still good at that? seems like if you want to do assassinations it's best to do them in style. 8-)

our greatest assassination achievement was slaying (the chief executive manager of the holocaust) Heydrich!
defenestration was not carried out irl for ages, but we still diligently practice (verbally) online.
in online discussions, the local government is defenestrated on daily basis.

random streetart you can encounter in Bohemian public space.

additional side note to socio-political exposé to East-Central Europe.
Czechs, Slovaks and Poles use similar languages (West Slavic).
Hungarians speak vastly differently (Finno-Ugric).
however, genetically, Czechs & Slovaks are closer to Hungarians than to Poles.
it's due to Czechs & Slovaks sharing for centuries the same state with Hungarians (Austro-Hungarian Empire).
thus Czech-Hungarian interbreeding was more common than Czech-Polish (with the exception of Silesia — one of the 3 Czech regions (Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia) — atached to the border with Poland — btw. Poles have their own Silesia as well).
more common than Czech-Polish interbreeding was that of Polish-Russian (again due to shared state).
thus Polish are genetically closer to Russians than to Czechs & Slovaks.
however, emotionally Poles & Czechoslovaks (Hungarians too) share mutual suspicion of Russia (coming from the shared history of 3 Soviet satellites).
the whole southern part of Slovakia is half-Slovakian half-Hungarian (another residue of the Austro-Hungarian Empire).
many half-Czech half-German parts of Bohemia-Moravia-Silesia were made purely Czech after WW2 (when pre-WW2 ethnic cleaning based on 1938 Munich Agreement was revenged by counter cleaning based on 1945 Yalta Conference).
actually, there was a short period of intense Czech-Polish interbreeding — when Bohemia-Moravia-Silesia was ruled by the Polish Jagiellonian dynasty (but it was in bygone ages and lasted a relatively short time — nothing compared to shared centuries with Hungarians).
but again, all might be much more clear and splendid if Celts would have NOT left Bohemia at first place (and if Luxembourg did NOT mess in)!
