Welcome!
Re: Welcome!
Haha! Yeah!!!
To please the majority is the requirement of the Planet Cinema. As far as I'm concerned, I don't make a concession to viewers, these victims of life, who think that a film is made only for their enjoyment, and who know nothing about their own existence.
Hopefully you won't ever have to resort to calling yourself Joks Quatre!
I think someone was asking about Mario, somewhere on some subforum, but I don't remember where; anyway, he hasn't logged on since the move, so I'm sure he'll join up once he gets on. James hasn't logged in either, but he hasn't in months, so...
There are a few others, people who had become regular posters recently, who haven't logged in recently either. And there are a few who have logged in who don't seem to have joined up here. Obviously, we were gonna lose a few. I had said to myself that if we started off with 50 members here we'd be in good shape, and we have 51, 38 of whom have made at least one post.
It'd be good to get some fresh blood though... if there are people you guys know on letterboxd or other corners of Internet cinephilia, who you reckon would enjoy SCFZ, by all means, tell them to join up

Fresh face here. Found out about SCFZ through those abundant, useful Letterboxd lists. Introduction-wise, I'm a trans gal and aspiring academic. My main interests at present are early and silent-era cinema, studio-era Hollywood, and cinema's relationship to empire. I tend to gravitate toward popular genre films and avant-garde works, less drawn to the arthouse. Looking forward to chatting about film history with you all !
Never really introduced myself before. Posted once in the older forum and this is my second post here. So hello everyone! I lurk a bunch but hopefully will chime in with my thoughts from time to time.
Please do whenever you get the urge Focus. More discussion is always welcome about pretty much anything, save perhaps for celebration of the current political situation.
Welcome Evelyn and any other new members too! (I'm not sure who all that might be with the name changes, but old or new it's just good to have people join in.)

Hi to all the new people!
Get writing some posts soon! (Can't find a toasting glass smiley without santa. We need more options.)

Welcome to Evelyn & welcome back to everyone else. The new forum coincides with my move out of the U.S.A. (Good riddance to Trump.) Sorry I didn't pitch in for the costs... I can give extra when it's time to renew.
Lucky!

I have very little free time nowadays to be more active, but at least I would like to keep my appointment with year polls.
Good luck to the new forum!

Just going to hop in here and say hi. Mainly focus my time on discord talking if I'm not watching a movie. The Pre-Code list that you all made and posted on Letterboxd is what got me acquainted with the forum, so here I am. Looking forwarding to discussing with y'all.

an old cinephile compadre recommended this board to me, i used to float around The Life Cinematic if anyone knows or remember what that is. got stoked as soon as i saw there was a Clarence Brown poll going on (big into all those Old Hollywood filmmakers that don't usually make the auteur canon; do Tay Garnett or Roy Del Ruth next plz)
tay garnett's one way passage has a lot of admirers around here, it's ranked really high in some of our polls. as you probably read in the clarence brown thread, every scfz member who participates in the director polls will eventually get a chance to nominate a director for a poll, so you'll get a chance to nom garnett or del ruth or another old hollywood director soon enough.
welcome to scfz!
welcome to scfz!
Not to be selfish, but, yes! I'd love more old Hollywood directors since that's how I roll. No offense to the many wonderful director choices from the rest of the world though since those make fine learning opportunities.

Honestly I just realized the old forum was gone, shows how active I was.
Good to be back though, will keep checking in occasionally.
P.S. Can you only add avatars from gravatar?

I'm pretty sure I added my avatar straight from my computer.
yeah i uploaded my avatar from my computer, it's somewhere in the profile settings, the file size limitation is draconian though so you might need to save a low res version. welcome to the new scfz!
