I just spent way too long trying to find the movie within the movie as well, but to no avail. I hope someone is still sleuthing that.

i will guess the burglar which has almost no chance to be right, just the distance of the camera reminds me of that film
looks like an in construction lincoln center in ny? but no idea what the movie could be

It's not "The Burglar," but that is the Metropolitan Opera House going up at Lincoln Center. Should help with the year.

The Train (1964)?
The Train is set during WW2, isn't it? So it wouldn't show the Lincoln Center image. But I was thinking of Seconds so maybe it's Frankenheimer after all if we're both thinking it is?

Oh, true... The second image recalled The Train to me but obviously won't fit with Lincoln Center
