Yeah, wasn't sure of the protocol on mini-series and anthology films but I was pretty sure he has more content than some of the directors we've polled previously, and I'm assuming decent coverage as well.St. Gloede wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 12:26 pmYou don't actually need to count the shorts, he has 12 full-length films if you count his recent mini-series (and 14 if you count two features he provided segments for).
I have seen 8,

Should be good, and I assume a decent number of SCFZers have followed him through at least the same 8 as I did, and some probably saw his first two and/or shorts as well.
if it's on letterboxd, it counts, so shorts and anthology films definitely count, as will some tv series. i've seen five or six by park (i think i forgot to log one). i normally wait until we have enough confirmed views for a poll (if someone intends to watch more of a director, we can get to them in a later round) so we'd need one more person who has seen about 8+ park films, and then we'll go ahead with that poll!

I would like it more if it was 15 or so mins shorter, but it has some great images and music and scenes that really stick with me, regardless of its flaws.MrCarmady wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 5:19 pm Watched Private Vices, Public Virtues, which I probably wouldn't have done were it not for this poll, so I'm glad, but it's really repetitive and has no narrative, emotional, or symbolic heft, so while it's sexy, pretty, and occasionally quite funny, I think I'm keeping my top 2 as is.
I couldn't make out any flaws or anything not making sense narratively or emotionally when I last saw it.Joks Trois wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 8:00 amI would like it more if it was 15 or so mins shorter, but it has some great images and music and scenes that really stick with me, regardless of its flaws.MrCarmady wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 5:19 pm Watched Private Vices, Public Virtues, which I probably wouldn't have done were it not for this poll, so I'm glad, but it's really repetitive and has no narrative, emotional, or symbolic heft, so while it's sexy, pretty, and occasionally quite funny, I think I'm keeping my top 2 as is.
But I also watched it from one of the best 35mm prints I had the fortune to see in a cinema.

It is very emotionally coherent to me. More of a sensual/poetic experience. On that level, it's very successful.
I don't agree with you about The Pacifist though. Couldn't get into that one. Surprised it got that many votes. Haha.
