perinbaba - absolute gem! feels like ōbayashi... but just a tad more, err, slovak. and i can see a liiiiiiiittle fellini influence in this one... from the music to the circus scenes, and right down to stealing his wife for the titular role

WOWEE!!! Every second of B + O + F, his most famous flick: total tedium and 'why am I watching this'. every two seconds of this: mesmerising, beseeching, piercing, vivid! My kind of kinema! If more short movies were like this, I wouldn't be giving them all 0.5/5! Shocked and delighted by how fantastic this bizarre little thing was. Makes me like movies again

It's funny, that one of the things I love the most about new wave cinema, but many do have that reaction.

I have pretty much the same reaction to shorts as you, so I rarely seek them out, including The Drummer for the Red Cross, but thanks to you I finally saw it, and yes, great stuff!

oh i see! i thought you were maybe questioning my taste. no, i watched the short film, the drummer for the red cross, i saw ambiguous report a few months ago. i didn't think too highly of it (i hated all the dissolve transitions), but there's some poetry to it. only nine jakubisko films got votes so i figured it deserved a place at the end of the list.
