1910 Poll
Re: 1910 Poll
i'll probably still watch it now on your slightly extended nod, seeing as i don't seem to be able to find any of his 1914 films other than fantomas online

Oh, bugger. It is indeed.
'EDIT: And I just discovered that the ending of Tournees du Grand Duc had been used previously in a very early Griffith, #4 in his catalogue (according to LB). My whole day is ruined.
The opposite of 'reify' is... ?

Den hvide slavehandel (The White Slave Trade)

The Unchanging Sea
Final list, probably.
The Italian Switzerland (Piero Marelli)
Santa Lucia (Piero Marelli)
From the Verbano to Switzerland Through the Gotthard (Piero Marelli)
From Sorrento to Amalfi (Piero Marelli)
A Trip through Berlin (Unknown)
Aufregende Lektüre (Johann Schwarzer)
SS Olympic (Unknown)
The Birth Of A Flower (F. Percy Smith)
The Unchanging Sea (D.W. Griffith)
The Oval Portrait (Léonce Perret)
The Abyss (Urban Gad)
King Lear (Gerolamo Lo Savio)
I found 1910 more prosperous than 1914 but that's probably cause films with a plot from this era usually does nothing for me, just gimme that sweet actuality

hi i'm spamming this thread now.
OMG when we were in our teens is the most sublime perfect thing i never imagined 1910 could produce. i really don't think i'll see anything else in all....tomorrow....that's going to top it. so it's a bust up between this and asta's slink....
also, yay, the heart of a fishergirl has lovely sea scenes. anything else with boats & oceans for 1910 that anyone's come across? (i've seen the unchanging sea)

Two things I liked that qualify: (1) Walter R. Booth's The Aerial Submarine, the copy I saw on YouTube seemed to be jumbled in order and/or repeat itself [I think it's also on BFI Player, presumably in better form] but it was still a treat of submarine contraptions, lady captains, and pirates, and (2) Piero Marelli's Santa Lucia is a very pretty actuality with boats in Italy, it's up on EYE Filmmuseum's YouTube.twodeadmagpies wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 11:17 pm anything else with boats & oceans for 1910 that anyone's come across?
This one shows the construction and launch of Titanic's sister ship in Belfast.

oh cool, thanks.i already got a trip to brazil from the bfi site but the search function is rubbish.
okay i immediately love frank powell. he was a great comic director, i've laughed at all of the films i've watched so far, and he disappeared from the known record approx 1923, death still unconfirmed (first google page says he's still alive & 134)
shame there's only a few available
