Yeah, I think it's set in late winter. The shot with the bench looks snowy, but I believe it's loose soil blowing over the park. The movie certainly has a wintry mood. Here's another still:

looks like something from darezhan omirbaev, so i'd guess student cuz of the various clues that've been dropped, but i haven't seen it, and i don't have any screenshots, sooo...

if it's the film I believe it is, according to letterboxd only karl, arthur, and ofrene have seen it - which I'm not sure how likely they are to pop into the thread and make a guess

Yep that matches up. I was trying to be throw everyone off the scent with the neo-gothic church (which looks British or American), but I'm afraid the film was too obscure to begin with. Anyway you've got it... you might as well take over. Here's the scene from the movie poster:

It's a beautiful, moody film that reminds me of Henning Carlsen's Sult (Hunger) and Louis Malle's Le feu follet. I should thank @karl for leading me to it, because the Im Kwon-taek poll led me down this rabbit hole.
