Both imperialist trash but I find Harlow and Astor worlds more interesting than Gardner and Kelly. Also old gable is gross and kidnaps baby animals

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD -- MOMI again. I'd removed Tarantino from my watch list after BASTERDS, but sometimes you gotta see what your husband wants to see.

THE IRISHMAN -- on the BFS at MOMI, viewing #3. Fingers crossed it still works. Still, can't be worse than the Tarantino shite last Friday....

My wife is insistent on doing a double feature screening of Winter Light and First Reformed for our friends this week. So I think that's going to happen. Should be kind of fun to watch them back to back and see if the reference feels tedious or refreshed when watching so close together.

We'll get to UNCUT GEMS at some point, but that 4k restoration of THE WHITE SHEIK just cannot be denied...

I doubt First Reformed will hold its own against it when viewed back to back, but I need to revisit it. I liked it, but after all the hype I was slightly disappointed.

Rewatched Winter Light in August and was really impressed. I like it more now.

Next film: The Lighthouse

Yes, Winter Light is something that has grown in power for me with each repeated viewing. It's really something special.

Hope you enjoy The Lighthouse. I had pretty with that one overall.

^^Winter Light is one of the greatest examples of film making economy I've ever seen, especially in terms of how dense it is. It covers so much ground in 85 minutes, more than most films twice its length.

Didn't get around to The Lighthouse. Ended up cracking open my Koker Trilogy blu-ray set and watched Where is the Friend's Home? and Life and Nothing More instead.

Hopefully I'll get around to The Lighthouse later tonight.

rischka, hope you get all better.
I have so many films I want to watch during the winter break. I know I might not even watch half of them though. However hope I can catch up with the rest of late Ozu's, Bela Tarr, and some of Abel Gance's. Those are the ones I always keep in mind, otherwise I usually decide just few minutes before I watch something.
