Watched BOB LE FLAMBEUR, got about halfway through until the phone rang and urgent family stuff intervened, and I thought about putting the movie back on and just went, nah. Not a particular fan of these French noirs, really. There's a refreshing frankness about the sexuality of the characters -- guess what, people actually fuck -- but the tragic bummer endings become tiresome after a while, generic even. Still, Jean Gabin is usually worth a look.
These matters are best disposed of from a great height. Over water.
