Re: 1935 Poll

Post by wba »

I've actually watched a 1935 film for this poll (could this have been a first ever since we started doing them, I wonder? - probably noit, but I definitely haven't done this in the last two years, I'd guess), and also made some funny screenshots and wanted to recommend the film to you all, but somehow life and other obligations got in the way and I totally forgot about it (must have been 2 weeks ago, so: sorry!). Anyways, before this poll is over: if you get a chance, watch MUSIC HATH CHARMS, a delightful delightful delightful (did I say it was delightful!?!?) musical comedy from the UK directed by Thomas Bentley. Letterboxd says it only has 6 views, but it's been issued on DVD and so I guess should be up in the usual places for anyonw interested. And it's merely a crisp 60something minutes. ;)

I guess this will do for my final list. Other movies could have made the cut of course, but I'm feeling a bit lazy, so I didn't feel like trying to be too precise about it all.

The Wedding Night
Top Hat
Mark of the Vampire
Captain Blood
Steamboat 'Round the Bend
Magnificent Obsession
The Big Road
Mutiny on the Bounty
Loss of Feeling
Peter Ibbetson
Mad Love
Dangerous
Wife! Be Like a Rose!
David Copperfield
Transatlantic Tunnel
Thanks a Million
Bonnie Scotland

It's too late now and I'm sorry I chose Annie Oakley, which I just finished watching, instead of An Inn in Tokyo for my final viewing for this poll. The Stanwyk film was tedious and didn't make my final list, and I just know the Japanese one would've been great. Never mind. :(

Don't tell me that I've voted for the winners! And I had already removed Le Bonheur the last time realizing its massive support! Globalization is catching me...
