we are currently $10 short of covering the cost of hosting. no rush, but just as a reminder, the link for donations is here: https://www.gofundme.com/manage/scfz-hosting

Brian - that links to the manager's page i think - i used this link https://www.gofundme.com/scfz-hosting
however, looks like we're all paid up now?

yep with $10 profit! good work everyone.
is there any way (with the extra $$$) that we could make this site secure?
and resources private?

gofundme charges a commission, so we're over the needed amount, but it's not by much (we've raised $130, but it's $122 after the commission). if we need to add features or whatever else, we can keep the link to donate open. we'd just need to let me know the new total amount we're aiming for.

I believe it is? The hosting came with SSL certificate which is what e-businesses use to prevent cc theft, so we should be good? I got three years of domain protection as well, and the whole thing came to $121, so we're actually right on the money I believe!twodeadmagpies wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 7:27 pm is there any way (with the extra $$$) that we could make this site secure?
it says 'not secure' in big scary red before the web address on my browser? not planning on posting my cc details on here but who knows how this site will develop now its ours....(i have a circus parade in my head about the new site at the minute)
okay, update your favourites to
https://scfzforum.org/phpBB3/index.php
That site should be more secure
I tried to update scfzforum.org to automatically redirect to the https version, but I'm not sure if it works. On my computer and phone, it still redirects to http. I delete my history and cookies, and still. But then I open up an incognito tab and it redirects to the https version? Huh? When yall go to scfzforum.org, does it redirect to http or https?

btw thanks for doing all this - not sure i said that yet.
i got redirected to the https site and then i didn't and then i did again (all not incognito) and i've no idea what i did differently, but i've got it on favourites now and it seems to be consistent.
edit: noope, it's gone back to http again, just from hitting reply. i give up.

Very cool! Will download that
No need for thanks; I'm honestly very honoured that you guys felt me capable of doing a good job on this. I was remarking to FLABREZU yesterday how it's kinda funny that I was a pretty notorious troll on Mubi but I've ended up in an administration role, but I really do love SCFZ, and think this place is so much better than Mubi ever was (although it would be nice if this place were SOMEWHAT bigger... not Mubi big though).
Besides, I actually really like things like this. Example: when I was still a high schooler I was webmaster for the provincial chess organization and loved it. It's a nice blend of technical and creative tasks.
Now that we have a website with a domain? With 50 GB of storage? This is gonna be fun! I'll say more, but I'd better say it in Resources, if you catch my drift

i didn't pitch in this time, but i gather we'll need to do this again each year, so i'll just throw in double next time
there it is!! if curtis wants to make a gofundme we could all pitch in...
sent him a mssg on twitter - if he shows up take his keys away he shouldn't be driving
Wait, what? Was there a need for money recently? Is that why the site was down for a bit? I think I'm missing something here.
yeah no one told me either, i would have paid it myself. it's $140 for the year. curtis paid it

i am pleading for crowdfunding!
i bet plenty of superchamper regulars will be fine to contribute.
we should show the world that a communist cinephile forum financed by a crowd of losers is not a utopia but a feasible reality.

"a communist cinephile forum financed by a crowd of losers" sounds like the perfect tagline for this site if ever there was one

Indeed. The needs of the masses must be in the forefront of our concerns. So to the battlements comrades! We must protect SCFZ against capitalist menace no matter the cost!we should show the world that a communist cinephile forum financed by a crowd of losers is not a utopia but a feasible reality.

i am not calling for a purge.
blackout was solved quickly and everything (crowdfunding, etc.) seems on the right track.
only when i clicked the admins i see Javier was last active Thu Jun 13, 2019.
i like Javier, i miss his presence, on the other hand, i don't think it is wise if the forum is "administrated" (have no clue about the agenda associated with this role) by those who are absent.
so, i am mildly pleading for making Rischka (the heart and soul of this forum) the admin!
i am pessimistic by nature but i would look forward to the future with confidence if Rischka would be (somehow or other) in charge too.
