THE EASY MAN (1968) by Catherine Breillat.

So far, one hell of a difficult read. I'm 40 pages in, and this is way more challenging than reading Blanchot... I think I'll start once more, and re-read everything. If it wasn't Breillat, I would have probably givn up and put it down already.

Fantastic director! Loathed him as a budding cinephile but fell in love with his mastery a decade later.

Only seen silents from DeMille so far.

Wow, Moon in the Gutter!! I love that film!
Wonderful, one of the best and most complex "surreal" films of the 80s.
Films like this is why I love cinema.

But Kubrick and his films also have much humor and irony and are extremely self-reflexive. I guess, when people aren't as stuck-up anymore and appreciate the absurdity and mocking humor in Kubrick more than they do now (and learn not to take the human species too seriously - same as Kubrick's films)...
