Re: Letterboxd Stats Showdown: Andrzej Żuławski/Roman Polanski

I stopped dancing when noticed that I wrote Zuwalski. :icon_rolleyes:

But I blame Greg as he wrote that before me and I unconsciously did the same. :icon_eek: :)

32 Our Little Sister (Hirokazu Kore-eda 2015) I really wanted to include it, but couldn't make up my mind which film's got to move out to give it spot. So it's my #56 for sure. 24 L'iceberg ( Dominique Abel, Fiona Gordon 2005)   Have you seen their recent film &quo...

Agree about the Gone Girl. It was a horrible experience and Fincher’s worst film.

Re: Last Watched

When I think of the films that influenced my love of cinema, I get back to the days of my early teenage years (that being the early 2000s) and I've got many titles that come to mind when I have to look back at what got me into film (I know there's another thread on SCFZ for that), but besides the li...

I am grinding my teeth right now. I mean, The Darjeeling Limited is my favorite Wes Anderson film.. How could I've missed it. Nevertheless, props to Greg for all the great screenshots. I guess I am due for a re-watch of this beautiful film.

I salute everyone who watches The Beach Bum. I watched it twice in cinema and looks like it’s going to become a cult classic. Moondog is a cool cat! (also there’s a cute kitten in the film)

Three films for 1949 poll The Set-Up (Robert Wise) 7/10 Expertly made and compact film. Criss Cross (Robert Siodmak) 8/10 My second Siodmak and while I still prefer The Killers, Criss Cross is a great noir with another fine performance by Burt Lancaster. I only wish the 3rd act was as good as the re...

Re: SCFZ poll: Tony Scott

I for one cannot think of any reason as to why people hold Paul WS Anderson as somewhat respectable auteur. I find the use of this 'vulgar' term as a tool to justify any chaotic film-making that delivers muddled and pretentious results. I've only seen 4 films from him (Soldier, Event Horizon, Mortal...

Re: SCFZ poll: Paul Schrader

Paul Schrader is one of my favorite directors. Affliction and American Gigolo are some of my favorite films of the 90s and 80s respectively. He's not just a great writer, but also capable to deliver nuanced and well-constructed stories. Actors shine in Schrader's films and are not overshadowed by an...

Two compositions by Terje Rypdal for Heat. I think Mystery Man is one of my favorite songs from 90s cinema.

Does anyone know how many users are locked out at the moment?

And I was wondering if admins can see when was the last time every user logged in?

I guess there could be more users with the same problem, only they haven't found a way to tell about it.

Great one, Joks. I would have picked Tony Scott next. I think I’ve seen all of his films.

Tony might not be admired universally as much as his brother, but I think he defined action filmmaking of the 80s-2000s.

Coens? They are in a totally different league than Hyams OR Sonnenfeld. Coens might just be the most accomplished director(s) of their generation in the US.

Not to mention his great work as cinematographer on films lik...

I've seen Angelo, High Life, Queen of Hearts and Anthropocene: The Human Epoch. High Life is the only one I absolutely hated. But others here at SCFZ seem to be more generous with their opinions, so I just don't know. For me the acting was atrocious, directing non-existent. I could recommend Angelo ...

never seen a hockey match in my life. Me too, I don't think I ever watched an entire game. Hockey is not popular in Lithuania, although I see a resurgence lately.
