The Mad Fox (Tomu Uchida, 1962) - Definitely had the feel of an eccentric late career entry in an old pro's ouevre. Meticulous, sprawling kabuki feast.

I think I'm gonna start with Borzage's I've Always Loved You (1946) and Harlan's Hanna Amon (1951).

There's a few posters on icm who reckons 20th century cinema is obsolete.

I probably would have preservered if I had found it visually appealing but I didn't (modern use of B&W rarely does it for me).

WKW used to be my fav director but my taste has changed so much in recent years that I wonder if I would like his films as much If I watched them today. A friend asked me about his films the other day and I couldn't recommend them with the same conviction as I've done before.

Kinda liked Vecchiali's White Nights on the Pier, a little too academic for my taste perhaps.

I made it one hour into From What Is Before before I gave up. Diaz just does nothing for me and I couldn't face the prospect of four more hours of it.

Recent watches like Opfergang has got me in the mood for some lurid Technicolor. What are some of SCFZ's fav ones? The more striking and/or weird the better, I'm thinking basically any color process from the 30's to the 50's would qualify, your Agfacolor's and whatnot. Examples: Leave Her to Heaven ...

This is probably fav xKhitruk of the bunch. Generally, I've found his animation style a little too reminiscent of the Eastern European cartoons I watched as kid when nothing else was on.

Damn, I know what film it is without even having seen it, I'm scared of myself sometimes lol. I'll wait for someone else to guess it right though.
